Another day.

Today, a tuesday. It basically involved me checking the webcomics I read which update on a tuesday, before going out for the day to meet up with friends and such. One of my hobbies if the realms of Games Workshop and the games they produce, and through the actual stores I have quite a few friends. So today I basically just hung out around Eastbourne with them, mostly in the store, and did a whole bunch of conversions, a small bit of sculpting, and some painting. That was about it really, other than having a few small things to eat. Then it was back here and voila, dinner. A pretty normal day really.

The title.

Well after looking at the html coding, scratching my head a bit, and trying to figure out how it works (since I have no real idea why html works) I decided to get rid of the main title and create a banner image with the title inside it. So off I went in photoshop, messing around with images and background and so forth, till I thought 'what the hell, I may as well test it first'. Looking over the coding I eventually found where the stuff for the header was, and using some trial and error with the ever-helpful 'preview' button I found the place where to put the image tag.

Satisfied (and with an old signature image in place to remind me where the tag should go) I returned to Photoshop. Grabbing one of my slightly older Bleach manga images, of an Arankaru (a hollow who's gained shinigami powers. if you haven't read the manga, don't worry) which I'd coloured. Setting this up I was getting along nicely when my computer froze. Then it shut down. Fantastic really, just brilliant.

Taking it as a sign for change, when I got my comp running again I decided on a different picture, a pic of a hacker from the PSP game Coded Arms. Taking the part I wanted I messed around with the colours etc and made a grunge wallpaper to go with it. (The grunge is actually mostly covered by a semi-translucent panel of black. It was a bit too light at first, but it is there.) I added some funky text for the title, used the ever-overused scanlines for some selections then switched over into Imageready. I then spent a fun little 5 minutes or so animating a moving blue scanbar to go up and down over the text, and saved it all as a gif.

Upping in on an image hosting site I duly went back to the html code and inserted the correct tag, and then let it load. The load took ages. Now I have 512 broadband, so I can't even think of the horror the image would have caused for any 56k connection user looking at this new blog. So, I went back and got rid of the animation, changing the hacker's colours round again then rehosting. Putting the new image up I noticed yet another problem. It was a bit too wide, so much so that the little white boxes around the image and descriptive text ended up broken.

Well, that wouldn't do at all, so I made it smaller, rehosted it again and then had a look to see how it all fit together. At long last it'd worked, hurrah. Now I have an image up instead of a really bad blocky text heading. Not too bad for a few moments of boredom.

Imageready boredom.

The Beginning.

And the blog entry is born. Surfing randomly through the wide net I saw a blog, and, being quite bored, decided to set up my own. Who knows, it may even have posts, writing, and if any readers are lucky, intelligent comments. Just don't hope for too much though, since it'll pretty much be a place for me to air thoughts and complain pointlessly about things I take for granted. Huzzah and all that.
